{"id":47138,"title":"\u201cUnited through sport\u201d: A school tournament in Pemba to combat hate and promote equality","type":"actualidad","template":"","content":"<span data-contrast=\"auto\">For three days, from January 27 to 29, the ANE Sports Complex in Pemba (Mozambique) hosted the school tournament: \u201cUnited through sport\u201d against hate and discrimination. Hundreds of boys and girls showed that when the game is played on equal terms, respect becomes the norm and hate has no place.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">It\u00a0was\u00a0a\u00a0space\u00a0where\u00a0sport\u00a0became\u00a0a\u00a0tool\u00a0for\u00a0coexistence,\u00a0education, and\u00a0the\u00a0active\u00a0rejection\u00a0of\u00a0discrimination.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The \u201cUnited through sport\u201d tournament was not focused solely on sporting results. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Its main goal was to promote values such as empathy, equality, and peace through sports practice. This initiative is part of the project \u201cScore against hate and discrimination\u201d, led by Ayuda en Acci\u00f3n, CEAP, and the Adidas Foundation, starting from a clear guiding question: can sport truly be an effective tool to educate for peaceful coexistence?<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">In a\u00a0region\u00a0like\u00a0Cabo Delgado,\u00a0marked\u00a0by\u00a0social and\u00a0community\u00a0challenges,\u00a0the\u00a0answer\u00a0came\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0playing\u00a0field.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<h2>More\u00a0than\u00a0400\u00a0children\u00a0building\u00a0coexistence\u00a0through\u00a0sport<\/h2>\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Around 400 students from the schools of Kob\u00e1, Maringanha, Wimbe, Ingonane, and Eduardo Mondlane took part in the \u201cUnited Through Sport\u201d tournament, turning the field into a space for connection and cooperation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0images\u00a0spoke\u00a0for\u00a0themselves:<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Girls\u00a0leading\u00a0handball\u00a0teams\u00a0with\u00a0confidence\u00a0and\u00a0determination.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Boys\u00a0celebrating\u00a0their\u00a0teammates\u2019\u00a0achievements\u00a0as\u00a0shared\u00a0victories.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mixed\u00a0teams\u00a0where\u00a0equality\u00a0was\u00a0not\u00a0explained\u00a0\u2014\u00a0it\u00a0was\u00a0practiced.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sport\u00a0became\u00a0a\u00a0common\u00a0language,\u00a0breaking\u00a0down\u00a0barriers\u00a0and\u00a0strengthening\u00a0the\u00a0sense\u00a0of\u00a0community.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-46585\" src=\"https:\/\/ayudaenaccion.org\/uploads\/2026\/02\/equipo_pemba-480x360.jpg\" alt=\"Equipo de ni\u00f1os Pemba \" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/>\r\n<h2>Health\u00a0and safety\u00a0education\u00a0beyond\u00a0the\u00a0game<\/h2>\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0experience\u00a0went\u00a0beyond\u00a0sports\u00a0competition.\u00a0During\u00a0the\u00a0event,\u00a0participants\u00a0received\u00a0complementary\u00a0training\u00a0from\u00a0different\u00a0local\u00a0actors:<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Health\u00a0teams\u00a0from\u00a0SDSMAS,\u00a0who\u00a0addressed\u00a0the\u00a0importance\u00a0of\u00a0oral\u00a0hygiene\u00a0and\u00a0overall\u00a0health\u00a0care.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0Traffic\u00a0Police,\u00a0who\u00a0provided\u00a0guidance\u00a0on\u00a0road\u00a0safety and\u00a0safe\u00a0mobility\u00a0within\u00a0the\u00a0city.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Each\u00a0session\u00a0was\u00a0received\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0same\u00a0attention\u00a0as a\u00a0tactical\u00a0briefing\u00a0before\u00a0a match,\u00a0reinforcing\u00a0the\u00a0tournament\u2019s\u00a0comprehensive\u00a0educational\u00a0approach.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<h2>The\u00a0victory\u00a0that\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0appear\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0scoreboard<\/h2>\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0presence\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Provincial\u00a0Director\u00a0of\u00a0Youth\u00a0and Sport\u00a0highlighted\u00a0the\u00a0institutional\u00a0relevance\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0event.\u00a0However,\u00a0the\u00a0true\u00a0outcome\u00a0was\u00a0visible at\u00a0the\u00a0end\u00a0of\u00a0every\u00a0match:\u00a0hugs\u00a0between\u00a0rivals,\u00a0shared\u00a0smiles, and mutual\u00a0respect.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">In \u201cUnited\u00a0Through\u00a0Sport\u201d,\u00a0the\u00a0most\u00a0important\u00a0prize\u00a0was\u00a0not\u00a0a\u00a0trophy,\u00a0but\u00a0the\u00a0certainty\u00a0that\u00a0the\u00a0boys\u00a0and\u00a0girls\u00a0returned\u00a0home\u00a0carrying\u00a0values\u00a0that\u00a0go\u00a0beyond\u00a0sport:\u00a0equality,\u00a0empathy, and\u00a0coexistence.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-46587\" src=\"https:\/\/ayudaenaccion.org\/uploads\/2026\/02\/nina_pemba-480x360.jpg\" alt=\"Ni\u00f1a en torneo deportivo\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/>\r\n<h2>Our\u00a0commitment\u00a0continues in Cabo Delgado<\/h2>\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0end\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0tournament\u00a0did\u00a0not\u00a0mark\u00a0a\u00a0conclusion,\u00a0but\u00a0a new\u00a0beginning.
