Ayuda en Acción has just published its Annual Report for yet another year, as part of the organization’s commitment to transparency and to showcasing the work we have been doing throughout 2024. The previous year was a tough one, with ongoing conflicts. At the same time, climate change continues, and inequality keeps growing among the communities we work with.
The Annual Report 2024 summarizes the main achievements of the international cooperation and social action projects we carried out in the 18 countries where we work. With €34.1 million allocated to our programs to create opportunities for growth and development, we have been able to carry out our work thanks to the collaboration of partners, donors, and public and private institutions, which contributed €43.4 million. After two years of losses, we ended the year with a profit of €1.3 million.
A year of action against inequality and for young people
More than 635,000 people have participated directly in our programs and projects, impacting their own development as well as that of their communities. We have worked in extremely fragile contexts such as the Central American migration route, the Sahel and northern Mozambique. Humanitarian response, climate resilience, transformative education, youth employability and gender equality programs have been central pillars of our intervention, together with strengthening child protection systems.
As Jorge Cattaneo, who took over as CEO in December 2024, points out, last year “we redoubled our efforts to create opportunities, especially for young people, who face great difficulties in accessing decent work”.
Transparency and partnerships: keys to impact
The report also highlights the role of partnerships and collaboration as drivers of change. Through a collaborative approach, Ayuda en Acción has promoted lasting solutions tailored to the needs of the communities we work with.
In financial terms, more than 50% of the total budget comes from public funds—including the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the European Union, and regional and local governments—while private funding accounts for 42%.
An organization on the move and looking to the future
Ayuda en Acción's 2024 report also shows how the organization has evolved to become more flexible, less centralized, and more in touch with local reality.
During 2024, Ayuda en Acción continued to strengthen its work on climate change and sustainability, as well as on youth employability, gender equality, and transformative education. These priorities will also guide us in 2025, a year that will bring important challenges such as migration, innovation, and artificial intelligence.
