Concepción (Concha) Escobar Hernández, aged 65, was a patron of Ayuda en Acción, a professor of Public International Law at the National Distance Education University (UNED) and a candidate for judge of the International Criminal Court for Spain. She died unexpectedly on 28 August 2025.
She joined the board of trustees of Ayuda en Acción in September 2018, having been brought in by the previous president, Jaime Montalvo. From the outset, she played an active role, updating the organisation's code of good governance to modernise it and adapt it to today's complex international context, among many other projects.
She embodied the values of Ayuda en Acción: commitment, professionalism, and warmth.
The board of trustees and Ayuda en Acción's team are deeply shocked and saddened by her loss, and we extend our love and sympathy to her family and friends at this difficult time.
