The storm that last week has hit the east of our country and especially the Valencian Community has had devastating effects. Ayuda en Acción stands in solidarity with the people of Valencia region and all those affected directly or indirectly. We send our deepest condolences to all those who have lost friends and family and all our love to those who have close people still missing.
Being an organization that works in very vulnerable areas and even in emergencies, we know that, precisely at this time, the key is the distribution and coordination of aid and resources. Now we have to support the institutions and organizations with local infrastructure and capacities that can act better and faster in such emergencies.
Therefore, in these first moments, the donations that we collect from our supporters or anyone who wants to collaborate will be transferred to the Red Cross or Caritas.
Our intervention in the Valencian Community
We are working in partnership and in coordination with the public administration to gather information and carry out analyses that will allow us to adapt our intervention in the Valencian Community.
Our programs in the region are mainly focused on working in schools, as well as supporting young people outside the educational system who are looking for employment.
The regional delegation team has been in contact with all program participants, making sure they are doing well, giving them emotional support and managing their uncertainties and concerns.
When travel is allowed, we will meet with the young people to make a first assessment of their needs and those of their families and to resume the work. The project participants will be able to access scholarships and transport aid to cover this need.
Support for the Valencian Community after the DANA storm
We encourage society as a whole to continue to set an example and show solidarity and express our support for all those who have been affected.
