Ayuda en Acción in Ethiopia, in collaboration with People in Need and Development Expertise Center (DEC), announces the launch of a transformative three-year project titled "Empowering futures for youth and women beyond agriculture".
This initiative, funded by the European Commission, aims to enhance economic resilience and create sustainable opportunities for women and young people across Ethiopia’s Afar, Tigray, and Oromia regions.
Direct support and economic resilience
Through this project, 16,500 women and youth will receive direct support to improve their access to demand-driven, marketable skills and financial resources. The initiative will focus on fostering climate resilience and expanding market opportunities to strengthen livelihoods. By promoting sustainable economic growth and resilience, the project is expected to indirectly benefit approximately 1,584,350 households across the target regions.
A collaborative approach for greater impact
Each partner will play a crucial role in implementing the program in specific areas: Ayuda en Acción Ethiopia will lead operations in Afar, People in Need will oversee activities in Oromia, and DEC will drive interventions in Tigray.
This collaborative approach ensures a regionally tailored strategy that maximizes impact and meets the unique challenges of each community.
Promoting sustainability and green jobs
The project places a strong emphasis on creating green jobs, reinforcing agricultural value chains, and empowering vulnerable populations—especially women and youth—by equipping them with the necessary tools to build sustainable livelihoods. By integrating innovative solutions and capacity-building initiatives, this intervention will contribute to long-term economic growth and social stability in Ethiopia.
